HUH?

Several months ago, I was walking these beautiful English Springer Spanials, Tucker and Molly. A man and his son were also walking, and the man stopped to ask if my dogs were bassett hounds. I told him what breed they were, and tried to keep from laughing.
Yesterday I saw the same guy again, sans the son. He asked if my dogs were irish setters this time!
He was actually really quiet cute asking about their breeds, and then he asked if he could pet them, when I agreed, he held out the back of his hand for the dogs to sniff. I was really quiet impressed at how he knew what to do (ask first, then let the dogs sniff the back of his hand).
