Remembering Baily

Baily crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday.
She wasn't very old, and it was unexpected.
She was diagnosed with Lymes Disease recently, and was on medication for that. Because of this, she had her good days, and her bad. It was a bad day on Monday. I never saw her so lethargic. I called her human to express my concern, and Baily went to the vet the next day.
The vet thought it might have been a reaction to the medication she was on for Lymes. Or it could have been something else, something cureable. Nobody thought Baily was dying.
The vet kept her overnight, to pump liquids into her, but the next day she died.

Baily was a happy dog, always full of energy. I used to call her "Baily Doodles." Baily Doodles, use your noodles.
Baily brought smiles to alot of people's faces. She particularly loved truck drivers. She would stand on her hind legs and wave at them. They almost always slowed down and waved back. She actually did this waving thing to just about everyone she met. She just loved people, and people loved her back.

The world is going to miss Baily.

Two Pair

Somtime being a dog walker means you have to help out those less fortunate.

This is Lady. I was walking her and her "brother,", Browser, a bearded collie. We got to a street where Scrappy, another "beardie" lives. They know each other and often have "play dates." (yes, dogs can have play dates too!)
When we arrived, Scrappy was in his yard, along with another dog, a male that looked exactly like Lady. It was two pair. Browser and Scrappy, the beardies, and Lady and the Stranger, both black mutts.
I inquired as to who this strange black dog was, and the girl watching Scrappy told me he was a stray, and the cops were on thier way to pick him up. She had been trying to get the stray on a leash (he was wearing a halter), but to no avail. In the process, the stray snapped at her.
The cop arrived, and after hearing how the dog snapped at her, he didn't even attempt to capture the stray. He said the cops were trying to get this dog for a week. The Humane Society was called in.
Being pack animals, I decided to wait, to insure the stray would continue playing with the other dogs and not run off.
Soon, the Humane Society truck arrived, and something indeed scared off the stray. I enticed my dogs to play with the stray some more, and right away the Humane Society woman was able to capture the stray. Our mission was completed.

PLEASE make sure your dogs wear tags, so in the event of the dog escaping,he can be reunited with his family in a timely manner. Better yet, microchip your pets, and keep that information up to date with your vet.
