I HATE SUVs
Just about two weeks ago, I got in a car accident.
Sometimes life throws these things at you. But the dogs still wait, so regardless, the rounds continue.
The accident wasn't my fault. It had been raining that day, pretty heavy, and the local parkway was closed due to flooding. There were alot of people in town that didn't belong there. Some guy, not a native, driving an SUV, ran a stop sign and ended up totalling my car. His car needed a new bumper, I needed a new car. (Have I mentioned how much I HATE SUV's?).
The photo doesn't really look all that bad, but the car was a '99 Saturn, and not only did it need a whole new front end, there was alot of damage to the engine. The repairs cost alot more than the Blue Book value of the car.
My friend Helga picked me up after the accident, and drove me over to the car rental place. I LOVE Enterprse Car Rentals! They gave me a PT Cruiser, which is what i have been driving ever since. I bought a new car, a 2007 Subaru Impreza Sport, which I pick up next weekend. I had to wait for the insurance money to come through and clear. The Subaru has been my dream car for a number of years. I just got it alot sooner than I anticipated.
I cancelled a few of the dogs later that day, did a few I HAD to, and farmed out a few to Helga, who is also a pet sitter. I went home and called the insurance, after downing a tranquilizer followed by a glass of wine. I needed that.
RIP, my little Saturn, you served me well, despite the fact that I hated you!
Welcome my dream car, my "Pearly Paula," to be named after one of my beest friends, as well as in honor of my mechanics, who are saints to have dealt with my frustrations over that Saturn (not to mention the best looking mechanics in the state!)
